USPA AFF Instructor Certification Course

You’ll need a current version* of the Skydiver’s Information Manual (SIM), and an Instructional Rating Manual, (IRM). These may be purchased from your local gear store or from the USPA store @ (540) 604-9740 or online @ www.uspa.org/shop *no older than 24 months*

Prior to the course all candidates should study the AFF Instructor Rating Course section found in the IRM. In the IRM you’ll find the AFF Instructor Rating Course proficiency card. The card needs to be signed off in the required areas prior to the start of the course. If you are a current USPA Instructor, (SL/IAD or Tandem), you don’t need to meet the requirements on the card marked with an asterisk, (*). Meeting the pre-course requirements may take some time so you should make sure to schedule an appropriate amount of time to complete the card before the start of the course you plan on attending.

One of the requirements is to complete a 40 question written exam. This is broken into two parts, the 25 question General Instructor exam and the 15 question AFF Instructor exam. These can be found in the back of the book and are open book exams. You’ll need a passing score of at least 80%. All answers can be found in either the IRM or SIM.
